Our Club was the only local service Club in attendance at the annual Upland Interfaith Prayer Breakfast. We had 7 members in attendance - good going Club.
As is our Club's annual tradition we will donate 10 turkeys and all the fixings to needy families in the City of Upland. Club members will bring food for the food baskets to our next meeting on November 17. We will work with Foothill Family Shelter to distribute these baskets.
LCI has made it a goal for Lions International to plant millions of trees this year. To support this effort Lion Sang has planted 5 trees and Lion Jim T. supervised the Reno Spanish Springs Club tree planting effort. Lion Wendy has paid for two plantation plantings by the National Forest Service. Plantation planting by the Forest Service consist of planting seedlings on 1/2 acre of forest service land that has been defoliated by fire. For each $68.00 donation the Forest Service will replant 1/2 acre. Lion Wendy has donated $136.00 for two plantations. It is anticipated that our Club will donate for a plantation.
New Business: First, and most important, new business today was the induction of a new member. President Michael conducted the induction of Lion Wendy Jarvis as the newest member of The Upland Host Lions Club.
