Lion Joey has been having discussions regarding the possible donation of a Van, to the Club for the LEO member use and transportation. The donation of the van would include the costs involved.

Lions Joey and Ken M. have arranged a meeting Thursday, January 26th with representative of Garden Arbor School to discuss a LEOs Club for Jr. High and High School Students.

Lion Joey gave the Club an update on the status of our City Hall Eyeglass Collection box. He showed the Club a picture of the renovated box and stated that it should be reinstalled this week. Joey had a lock made for the box so now no one other than our Club should be able to get into it. Joey suggested that a certificate of appreciation be prepared for the Company that refurbished the mail box. As soon as the Company's name is provided a certificate will be prepared.

Other Committee Reports:
Our one man eyeglass/mailbox committee, composed of Joey, has completed refurbishment of the eyeglass/mail box. The box was removed from its permanent location by Joey, taken to the powder coater, sandblasted, acid cleaned and then powder coated. Lion Joey then had Lion Logos and eyeglass collection box identification decals prepared. He will install the decals and re-install the box in its original location. Thanks to Joey the powder coating was done gratis and the decals cost the club only $80.00.

Old Business:
There was a discussion of the Club's budgets, with an indication that both the Activities and Administrative budgets had been reviewed and approved at the Club's 12/19/2016 meeting. Further discussion of the Administrative budget followed and it was agreed that more clarity was needed on both budgets and they will be discussed at a future meeting.

As we have every year, at this time, discussions of the 2017 Fish/Steak Fry began. Club President Jim K. has been investigating locations for the 2017 affair. He stated that Memorial Park is currently closed to the public and will be for 6 months or more. The City of Upland is in the process of upgrading the park.

President Jim also investigate the possibilities of using Magnolia Park. He talked to City representatives and has tentatively reserved the Magnolia Park for the Club. He checked the gas availability, cooking facilities and seating / table availability. Everything needed for our Fish/Steak Fry seemed to be available at that site. Although there is a gas supply he needs further investigation regarding our ability to attach the corn cookers to that supply.

We had further discussion about new community signs, food alternatives, entertainment and perhaps reorganization of the Club's entire fund raising effort. We talked about getting away from the Fish/Steak Fry venue and using food vendors such as In N Out Burgers and other means to attract adults and their children to revitalize our efforts.

New Business:
No other new business was discussed.

Committee Reports:
Visitations:
Upland Host Lions visited the Pomona Host Lions on Thursday, December 15th. Members in attendance from Upland Host Lions were: Lions Beverly S., Ken M., Joe, Arlene and Jim K..

Old Business:
The Upland Host Lions annual Holiday Party was held on Monday, December 5th at Maniac Mike's Café.

On December 10th The City of Upland held their annual Christmas Parade. Upland Host Lions helped with parade organization and crowd control. This year there were 104 entries in the parade and a lot of coordination was required. The Lions of District 4-L4 were represented by our District Governor Lion Bob Susaeta riding in the parade.

During our October and November, 2016, Board Meetings we had discussed refurbishing the Club's eye glass collection box (old mailbox). The Ontario Lions Club Had offered to refurbish the box if they could share the eye glasses collected in it. Our Club declined the offer and Lion Joey stated that he does business with a powder coating company and he would see what they would charge us to refinish it. He checked and the company said they would sand blast and refinish the box for the Club at no charge. Joey further checked on placing the identifying Lions Logo and necessary eye glass collection identifiers on the box  Lion Joey volunteered to deliver the mail box to the powder coaters, place the proper decals on the box and reinstall it for the Club. The total cost for the decals would be $70 to $80. A motion was made, seconded and approved to have Lion Joey go ahead and take care of the Eye Glass collection box. THANK YOU JOEY.

We had discussion of the future of our annual Fish Bake which included relocation, facility needs, changes to menu and physical assistance requirements. To perpetuate this annual activity we must consider possible major changes to assure its continuation. More discussion to come.

New Business:
AS OF JANUARY 1, 2017 THE CLUB'S DUES ARE DUE FOR THE 1ST 6 MONTH PAYMENT.

New for this meeting, but not new to Club discussions  was a presentation put together by Lion Joey regarding the development of a new LEOs Club in Upland. Lion Joey ( a former LEO) had put together a plan for forming a new Club. He addressed a proposed location, the costs as they pertained to LCI, ongoing fees, facilities and costs to individuals or the Upland Host Lions Club to equip and maintain individual members. There is an initial startup or charter fee to LCI of $100 and an ongoing annual LCI fee of $100. In addition there are a number of individual costs to be considered for the LEOs Club. Lion Joey did a good job of identifying the requirements of starting and maintaining a new Club. Further discussion and action will be undertaken.
