Programs - July, 2015
July 6, 2015 - This was our monthly Board Meeting. Minutes of that meeting were published on the Club's blog and made available to all Club Members for their review and comment. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the minutes as presented. July 20, 2015 - Lion Joe was our program Chairman for today and Lion Mike presented the program. Lion Mike informed us of the current status of Cable Airport. He talked about the City of Upland's Master Plan and the need to insure the compatibility of Cable Airport's Master Plan with the City's. He talked about the need for making the development of residential apartment/ homes compatible with the safety zones around an airport. The airport currently has over 300 airplanes hangered/stored there with a lot of flight activity every day. Cable Airport is the largest privately owned airport in the United States. Mike explained the future reconfiguration plans for the airport which includes removal and replacement of hanger space, relocation of the airports administrative offices and many other changes that are being planned. The airport has hired a full time General Manager to guide the airport activities and development. Cable Airport is a thriving, active enterprise growing with the City of Upland.
In addition to Lion Mike's discussion of the Airport we talked about the status of the Fish Bake preparations. Lion Tina reported that everything is proceeding well, the signs have been put up around the City, permits have been taken care of and the need now is for Lions to be at the Park by 8:00 AM on Friday August 7th, to do all the set up work required.
