Other Items Worthy of Mention:

On March 21st Upland Host Lions hosted a fund raiser at the Life Point Church. This was a (clean) Comedy Night and a fund raiser to help a private group planning a Memorial to all the veterans in the Upland Area. The Memorial is to be large multi sided obelisk recognizing all of our Country's military branches and their protection of the American way of life. In addition to the obelisk there will be a wall with the names of all those Upland service personnel who gave their lives in protection of our Country. The Memorial is projected to cost over $400,000 and the Upland host Lions donation will help achieve that goal.

The maximum capacity of the Life Point Church facility is 120 people and we had close to a full house. The tickets sold for $15.00 (including a hot dog, chips and a drink) or $12.00 without the snack. In addition to the tickets we sold drinks, candy, popcorn and 50/50 raffle tickets at the Comedy Night. The winner of the 50/50 raffle won $106.00 and then donated it all back to the Club. This was a very successful fund raiser and we will make a substantial donation to the Monument Committee.

Upland Host Lions Members at 2015 Comedy Night

We had a good turnout of our Club Members to help with this fund raiser and we had good support from other Clubs in our Region. Thank you to everyone.

Lion (1st VDG) Ken M. discussed a service project he had talked to the City of Upland's Cooper Museum about. The project is to clean up the grounds of the Chaffey Community Center ( The old church) on 18th Street in Upland. This clean-up has been taken as a Foothill Region Project and was scheduled for March 26th at 10:00 AM. Lion Ken M. and 15 Chaffey High School Leos attended and completed this clean-up.

Lion Madeleine suggested we try to establish a Leos Club at Pioneer Jr. High School, possibly in conjunction with a Leos Club at Carden Arbor School. The Club will follow up on this suggestion.

Lion Ken M. handed out member questionnaires and asked the members to return them at our next (April 6th) meeting. These questionnaires are designed to provide guidance in further development of our Club and will be discussed at our April 6th meeting.

Next Meeting:
