Upland Host Lion's Club: July 2016

Programs - July, 2016:

July 4, 2016 - The Club was dark due to the July 4th holiday.

July 18, 2016 - Lion Madeleine was the Program Chair for this meeting. Lion Madeleine introduced our guest speaker Donna Mclenahan, owner of a new business called Paint Party 909. Her business offers a social connection, for those attending, and a fund raising opportunity for those seeking to raise funds for their organization. Ms. McClenahan conducts 2 hour sessions weekly at Foothill Kitchens, 360 West Foothill Blvd, Upland. She provides aprons and all the art supplies to finish the evenings project that you take home and proudly display. All sessions are instructor led with roaming assistants to help out when you need supplies or have questions. The cost is $30 per person and for fund raising evenings with up to $10 per person returned to the sponsoring organization. The fund raiser can be held at the location selected by the sponsor. It is a BYOB party and everyone brings their own beverage - Its a paint party with friends.

July 25, 2016 - This was a brief meeting to finalize plans for the Club's 62nd Annual Fish Bake. Status of preparations for the Fishbake were discussed along with the final prep. and work assignments. Sales of tickets and sponsorships were updated.

Other Items Worthy Of Mention:

July 15th was the kickoff meeting for the 2016/2017 Lion year and the District Governing Body. The day was, basically, devoted to the installation of our new District Officers. Our new District Leadership is:
      District Governor - Lion Bob Susaeta
      1st Vice District Governor - Lion Judy Barr
      2nd Vice District Governor - Vacant, due to the untimely
      death of 2nd Vice District Governor Elect - Lion Pete Badame.

This was an excellent meeting with presentations by many good speakers. We were also treated to a serenade by an act from the 2016 District 4-L4 Convention. Sonny and Cher (Better known as PDG Ken Myers and PDG (District 4-L5) David Radeke. They appeared as Sonny and Cher and provided relief from the solemnity of the District installation activities.

Visitations:

On Thursday, July 14th the Upland Host Lions Club visited the Chino Valley Lions. In attendance from UHL were Lions Richard, Beverly S., Madeleine and Keith.

On Monday, July 18th the Upland Host Lions Club visited the Diamond Bar Breakfast Lions Club. In attendance at that visitation were Lions Beverly S., Madeleine and Jim K.

Next Meeting:

The Upland Host Lions next regular meeting will be held on August 1st at Maniac Mike's Café at Cable Airport. The meeting will begin at 6:30 PM and will be the Club's monthly Board Meeting.
