Upland Host Lion's Club: Upland Host Lions Monthly Bulletin

Programs:

May 1, 2017 - Our meeting was the Club's Monthly Board Meeting. Meeting Minutes were prepared and placed on the Club's blog for everyone to review and comment.

May 15, 2017 - We had no prescheduled program for todays meeting so we talked about future Club activities. Lion Joey is continuing with his recruitment for our new LEO Club. He has their next meeting scheduled for Monday, May 22nd at 6:30 PM. He continues his visitation to local schools, inviting the young people to attend the meetings to learn about the LEO's and their community service. Our first formation meeting resulted in a disappointing single person appearing and want to be a member. Not to be deterred by the first meeting, Lion Joey has been very active in creating an awareness of the LEOs and spread interest to other young people in the area.

We, further, discussed this years "Fishbake" now to be known as "Lions Family Feed and Fun". As everyone knows we do not have Memorial Park available to us this year and after searching for a replacement venue we arranged to have the "Lions Family Feed and Fun" at the Gibson Center in Upland. Instead of our traditional Fish and Steak the meal will be catered by the Habit Restaurant and they will serve cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches and tuna steak sandwiches with fries and a soda. We will have entertainment plus activities for children. The date of this affair has, also, been changed. For the first time in this fund raisers history it will now be held on Saturday instead of Friday. The date of the Fund raiser is Saturday, August 5, 2017.

Other Items Worthy of Mention:

The Annual District 4-L4 Convention will be held for May 18th through May 21st. One member of our Club, PDG Lion Ken Myers will attend the convention.

On May 20th the "Toys For Tots" Car Show will be held at Upland's Cooper Museum and seven members of our Club will act as volunteers at this affair. Other Lions Clubs in the area are also volunteering to support this affair.

On May 31st Upland Host Lions will present Certificates of Appreciation for Scholarship, plus financial rewards, to the top scholars in the graduating classes at Upland Jr. High and Pioneer Jr. High. Lion Ken Bell will make the presentation at Upland Jr. High and Lion (President) Jim Krumwiede will make the presentation for Pioneer Jr. High.

Training for new Club Officers is scheduled, at the Brea Scout Center, on June 10th and our new President Lion Joey Amaro, Vice President Lion Sandra Watts, Treasurer Lion Jim Krumwiede and Secretary Lion Beverly Sugerman will attend.

On June 19th the installation of Upland Host Lions 2017/2018 Officers will take place at the Landacena Community Center. District Governor Bob Suseata will officiate and a catered dinner will be served.

Next Meeting:

The Club's next meeting will be the Monthly Board Meeting for the month of June, 2017. This meeting will be on Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Landacena Community Center at 6:30 PM. The Landacena Community Center is located at 1325 San Bernardino Road in Upland. Dessert for this meeting will be arranged by Lion Tina.
